Zoomorphic and Kiln God/dess Sculptures:

My zoomorphic sculptures are not kiln gods. Symbolically these beast sculptures reflect the emotional tug-of-war between the conscious and subconscioous minds of their human counterparts. Although the beast forms are headless, they each are still capable of translating an anthropomorphic mood or gesture by way of their physical presence and arrangement.

Some of the beast sculptures are coupled with masks which represent the symbolic division between the rational self and the deeper, more intuitive subconscious or animal self. These beast sculptures are not very different from the symmetrically divided beasts, where the double ended form represents the pull of opposing desires and conflicting moral interpretations and values.

My zoomorphic and kiln god/dess sculptures are partially inspired by the Jungian concept of the Great Mother archetype, deliberately set out to create symbols or figures that represent transpersonal archetypes. I believe that the central Great Mother motif in my sculptural work along with my beast sculptures are archetypes that have arisen from my unconscious psyche.
